Continuing the efforts of the Palestinian Medical Association in Europe – Denmark Branch in supporting the healthcare sector in Gaza, the association has successfully rehabilitated and equipped an operating theatre at Al-Wafaa Hospital in Gaza City to strengthen surgical capacity and improve access to essential medical care under extremely challenging conditions.

Following the completion of the operating theatre refurbishing, several surgical procedures were performed immediately, addressing the urgent needs of a large number of patients who had been waiting for various surgical interventions. This initiative has contributed to reducing pressure on healthcare workers and improving timely access to life-saving surgical services.

This project comes as part of ongoing support for the Palestinian Health system early recovery plan for healthcare institutions in Gaza, many of which have suffered extensive destruction during the prolonged conflict, resulting in severe damage to the healthcare infrastructure and an urgent need for rehabilitation.

In this context, PalMed  reaffirms its continued commitment to fulfilling its humanitarian and professional responsibilities by mobilizing its financial and human resources to support the healthcare sector in Gaza and across Palestine, working closely with local and international partners to strengthen the resilience of the healthcare system and ensure access to medical care for those in need.

Together, we heal the wounds.

Palestinian Doctors in Europe – Denmark Branch Funds Surgical Procedures for Patients and the Injured in Northern Gaza

In the midst of ongoing crises caused by the blockade and war on Gaza, even routine medical procedures can become inaccessible.

Many patients have faced prolonged delays in undergoing essential surgeries—whether major, intermediate, or minor—procedures that are crucial for alleviating pain, reducing suffering, improving daily life, and supporting healthy development.

Through our latest project, the Denmark branch of the Palestinian Doctors in Europe has helped 80 patients and injured individuals finally receive the care they have long awaited. The branch provided funding for 113 surgical procedures across various specialities, including general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, gynaecology, ophthalmology, vascular surgery, and maxillofacial surgery. These procedures were carried out by specialised surgical teams at three hospitals: Al-Sahaba Medical Complex, Al-Awda Health and Community Association, and Public Service Hospital.

We have ensured that these patients receive the care they need in a timely and efficient manner.

No patient should have to wait for essential medical treatment.
With your support, we can continue to remove barriers to healthcare access and provide every patient with a healthier future.

As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts, PalMed , through its Denmark and France branches, has launched a project to support pregnant displaced women in Gaza camps.

The Denmark branch has established a dedicated maternity and gynecology clinic at Yaffa Hospital, while the France branch has initiated a similar project by setting up a medical point in the region.

These clinics provide regular check-ups for pregnant women, ultrasound scans, and essential medications, including iron supplements and vitamins, all free of charge. These services are critical in light of the fragile healthcare system and the difficulty of accessing medical care in Gaza, where pregnant women face severe shortages of food, medicine, and nutritional supplements.

This initiative addresses the urgent needs of pregnant women, many of whom struggle to find adequate nutrition during pregnancy due to a dire scarcity of fruits and vegetables. The region faces the looming threat of famine, with 95% of Gaza’s population living under extreme food insecurity, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC). Additionally, a report by UN Women highlights that 55% of breastfeeding mothers in Gaza suffer from health conditions that hinder their ability to nurse their babies.

This project is part of the association’s broader relief efforts, aiming to support these vulnerable groups through medical points established in various locations across Gaza.
