On 24 April 2026, the UK branch of PalMed Europe hosted an international conference in London titled “Advancing Medical Education and Delivering Healthcare in Palestine.“
The conference brought together leading physicians, academics, and policymakers from around the world to address the urgent challenges facing Palestine’s healthcare system, with particular focus on Gaza.

Protecting Medical Education
Opening sessions emphasised the urgent need to safeguard medical education and uphold medical ethics in Gaza to ensure the training of future healthcare professionals.
A Humanitarian Emergency
In his keynote address, Ambassador Husam Zomlot highlighted the scale of the crisis, noting that more than 18,500 patients, including 4,000 children, are waiting for urgent medical treatment that the current healthcare system cannot adequately provide.

Live contributions from the Deans of the Faculties of Medicine in Gaza, Dr. Anwar Al-Sheikh Khalil and Dr. Mohammed Zughbour, provided first-hand insight into the destruction of medical education infrastructure and the ongoing efforts to continue teaching despite immense challenges.
Building Sustainable International Partnerships
The conference focused not only on highlighting the crisis but also on developing long-term academic partnerships. Discussions led by Professor Omar Milad and Dr. Nadine Abu Shaaban stressed that investing in Palestinian medical education is essential for ensuring the future sustainability of healthcare in Palestine.
The conference organisers aim to transform these recommendations into practical educational, training, and healthcare support programmes that will contribute to rebuilding the health sector.
The ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Clinic in Gaza, funded by the UK branch of PalMed Europe, provides essential specialist care to one of the most vulnerable populations facing ongoing healthcare challenges.
The clinic treats around 500 patients every month, managing a wide range of acute and chronic ENT conditions that, if left untreated, can significantly affect quality of life, education, and daily functioning.

As part of its ongoing commitment to humanitarian solidarity and supporting Gaza’s healthcare system, PalMed Italy, the Italy branch of PalMed Europe, organised a blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Blood Bank at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
The campaign was held at the PalMed Italy Clinic in Hikr Al-Jami’ and aimed to strengthen blood bank supplies and meet the urgent needs of patients and the wounded during the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
The initiative received an excellent response from local residents, who answered the call to donate blood and help save lives.
The organisers highlighted that blood donation is both a humanitarian and national responsibility and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing such initiatives to strengthen Gaza’s healthcare system and promote community solidarity.
PalMed Italy extends its sincere thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to the success of this campaign, while emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation between local and international partners in serving the Palestinian people.
The 34th medical delegation of PalMed Europe has delivered significant life-saving impact during its mission in the Gaza Strip.

147 war-related injury cases treated
Dozens of complex surgical procedures
705patients seen in outpatient clinics, including 36 children under the age of five and 49 critically ill patients
The delegation consisted of three specialist doctors in orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, and neurology, working across three hospitals in Gaza:

A third doctor, a general surgeon, was prevented from entering Gaza after being denied access by the occupying authorities.
PalMed Europe continues, with Allah’s help, to send specialist medical delegations, essential medicines, and medical supplies to Gaza as part of its ongoing humanitarian and professional commitment, and to support the resilience of local healthcare teams.
To strengthen the healthcare system in Gaza, the Italy branch of PalMed Europe has provided the Urology Department with a lithotripsy (stone fragmentation) device.
This project was implemented in coordination with the Gaza office of PalMed Europe, in response to the severe shortage of surgical equipment across hospitals in the Gaza Strip, which has significantly increased the suffering of patients in need of this type of essential intervention.
This initiative is part of a wider series of projects by PalMed Europe to support Gaza’s healthcare system under extremely difficult humanitarian conditions and severe shortages of medical equipment.
The Denmark branch of PalMed Europe has launched a new surgical campaign for children and injured patients in Gaza.
In coordination with Yaffa Medical Hospital, PalMed Denmark has implemented a new round of surgical procedures as part of ongoing efforts to support Gaza’s healthcare system amid severe humanitarian challenges.
This initiative is part of a wider series of projects aimed at strengthening surgical capacity in Gaza, where hospitals continue to operate partially under extreme shortages of medical staff, equipment, and essential supplies, significantly impacting their ability to deliver care.
