New-Shipment-of-Medicines-and-Medical-Supplies-Delivered-to-Gaza-Hospitals.png

PalMed Europe, in cooperation with its Sweden branch and the humanitarian organisation Norwac, has successfully secured and delivered essential medicines and medical supplies required for the treatment of Guillain–Barré Syndrome (GBS) in Gaza.

Recent figures from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) indicate a concerning rise in GBS cases — a rare but potentially life-threatening neurological condition in which the immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system.

As of 31 July 2025, 64 cases had been reported, including 27 children under the age of 15 — a dramatic increase compared to the pre-war average of five cases per year.

According to the World Health Organization, Gaza had no available stock of Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG), the primary and life-saving treatment for GBS.
On 4 August, the Ministry of Health confirmed three deaths linked to the condition, including two children.

PalMed’s Commitment

This shipment represents part of PalMed Europe’s continuous efforts to support Gaza’s health system and provide life-saving interventions. We pray for safety, healing, and protection for our people and patients.

Special thanks go to our colleagues in the Sweden branch for leading this important initiative.

Together, we heal the wounds.

Dublin – 24 September 2025

Trinity College Dublin, one of Ireland’s most prestigious universities, hosted the launch of the English edition of “A Surgeon’s Diary in Gaza: A Testimony to Genocide” on Tuesday, 23 September. The event was organised by the Palestinian Doctors Association in Europe – Ireland Branch (PalMed Ireland) in collaboration with the European Medical Professionals Association (EMPA).

The launch was part of a series of activities organised by PalMed Ireland to condemn the repeated attacks on hospitals and healthcare facilities in Gaza by the occupying forces, as explained by Dr Mahmoud Abu Marzouk, Chair of the PalMed Ireland Founding Committee.

The event was attended by representatives of Irish political parties, social and healthcare organisations, as well as a large audience of Irish citizens showing strong solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Representing EMPA in Ireland, Dr Abdel Baset Al-Sayyed spoke about the organisation’s mission and its efforts to support the Palestinian health sector and advocate for the rights of healthcare workers. Dr Andy, a GP with Irish Healthcare Workers for Palestine (IHCW4P), also addressed the audience, reaffirming the Irish medical community’s commitment to standing alongside their colleagues in Gaza.

The programme was skilfully moderated by Rebecca O’Keeffe (MPhil, Trinity College Dublin), a researcher pursuing a PhD on peace studies in the Middle East. The speeches shared powerful, first-hand stories of the suffering endured by Palestinian patients, medical staff, and civilians in Gaza. One of the most impactful moments came from Dr Ahmed Habib, whose deeply moving address resonated strongly with the audience.

The event included a lively Q&A session, allowing attendees to share their thoughts and engage directly with the speakers. The large turnout reflected the growing public interest and solidarity within Irish society towards Palestine.

Among the distinguished guests were the Malaysian Ambassador to Ireland and his wife, alongside many Palestinian doctors working within the Irish healthcare system. The event concluded with great success — over 140 copies of the book were sold immediately after the launch.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support the severely strained healthcare system in the Gaza Strip amid the continuing aggression, the Palestinian Doctors Association in Europe (PalMed) has successfully delivered an urgent shipment of essential medicines and vital medical supplies to the Ministry of Health and frontline healthcare providers in Gaza.
This initiative is part of a wider series of PalMed projects aimed at strengthening the health sector in Gaza, where hospitals and clinics are facing a severe shortage of medicines and equipment. The crisis has led to significant difficulties in treating patients and the injured, and in many cases, has forced healthcare facilities to suspend their services entirely.
PalMed remains committed to fulfilling its duty towards our people in Palestine — and particularly in Gaza — by continuing to provide vital medical support and assistance whenever and wherever it is needed.

In cooperation with Yaffa Medical Hospital, the Palestinian Doctors Association in Turkey, in coordination with PalMed Europe, continue the campaign to perform life-saving surgeries for children and the wounded in Gaza.

This initiative is part of a wider series of projects dedicated to supporting the health sector in Gaza, particularly during these extremely challenging times. Hospitals in Gaza continue to suffer from severe shortages of medical equipment and supplies.

It is worth noting that only 16 out of 38 hospitals in Gaza are partially functioning, facing a critical lack of medical staff and essential supplies, including anaesthesia and antibiotics. Despite these hardships, healthcare workers remain committed to saving lives.

We pray for the safety of our people in Gaza and for the swift recovery of the injured.
Together, by the will of God, we heal the wounds.

PalMed Europe has successfully completed its 26th medical mission to Gaza, where our team of specialists spent nearly two weeks delivering urgent humanitarian care.

Two senior consultants allowed to enter Gaza and to support Gaza’s struggling health sector:
  • A UK-based Consultant in Retinal Surgery & Ophthalmology
  • A Germany-based Consultant in Anaesthesia & Critical Care
Our doctors worked side by side with Gaza’s exhausted health workers at Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, Gaza Eye Hospital, and Al-Amal Hospital. Together, we performed dozens of complex retinal surgeries and provided hundreds of consultations to patients in desperate need of care.
Since the beginning of the war, we have organised and led 26 medical missions to Gaza, in partnership with Rahma and the World Health Organization. Each mission strengthens the health system and eases the suffering of our people.
We are determined to continue sending more missions, expanding our support, and standing firmly with Gaza’s doctors and patients.

  • ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery)

These doctors worked in Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, where they performed dozens of complex surgical procedures and delivered essential care to hundreds of patients, many of them critically injured.
This mission represents:
  • The 20th emergency medical delegation sent in collaboration with Rahma Worldwide
  • And, including five previous missions supported by the World Health Organization, brings the total number of PalMed-led delegations to 25 since the start of the recent escalation in Gaza
PalMed Europe reaffirms its commitment to expanding this critical program, aiming to send additional delegations in the coming weeks to help meet urgent health needs and relieve the suffering of civilians.

Location: Gaza Strip

As the aggression on Gaza continues, more than two million displaced people remain trapped in catastrophic humanitarian conditions. Families struggle to survive in overcrowded shelters and tents, facing a growing threat from infectious and chronic diseases, amid a critical shortage of medical services and life-saving medications. The situation is further worsened by a severe lack of basic food supplies and infant formula.
In response, the PalMed Europe – Turkey Branch continues its vital support to the “Wafaa Al-Muhsineen” medical point in the Al-Mawasi area, south of Khan Younis. The medical point is regularly supplied with essential medicines and supplies as part of PalMed’s broader health support initiatives across Gaza.
We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the generous donors of the Turkey branch, whose contributions have kept this medical point running. We also thank our donors in other EU countries, whose support enables several other medical points throughout different regions of the Gaza Strip.
May Allah protect our people in Gaza, grant healing to the wounded, and bring relief to the steadfast families enduring this hardship.
Be a partner in goodness.

Khan Younis – Palestine

With praise and gratitude to God, three doctors from the Palestinian Doctors Association – Europe (PalMed Europe) have arrived today in Gaza, in partnership with Rahma International and in coordination with the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

This marks PalMed’s 20th medical delegation to Gaza since the beginning of the ongoing Genocide, continuing our mission to support the healthcare system and provide urgent medical relief.

This 20th specialist delegation originally consisted of seven doctors; unfortunately, four were denied entry. However, three senior consultants successfully arrived, specializing in:

  • ENT Surgery (Ear, Nose, and Throat)

  • Orthopedic Surgery

  • Internal Medicine and Cardiology

The delegation will perform advanced surgical procedures for patients and wounded individuals in Gaza, aiming to ease their suffering and support local medical teams who have been working under extreme conditions.

With God’s will, PalMed will continue to send specialist delegations, along with essential medications and supplies—fulfilling our medical and humanitarian duty and standing in solidarity with the dedicated healthcare workers of Gaza.

We pray for the safety of our delegation members, all medical staff, and the people of Gaza. May this unjust aggression come to an end soon, by God’s mercy and strength.

To support the struggling healthcare system in Gaza, the Palestinian Doctors Association in Europe – UK Branch continues to sponsor two specialized medical centres in the region. One of these is the Al-Jalaa Specialized Medical center, based at the Patient Care Charity Center.

This initiative is part of our broader project of mobile clinics and medical points, now exceeding 16 locations, aimed at delivering specialized care amidst a severe shortage of doctors and medical supplies in the besieged strip.

We continue to support the Al-Jalaa Specialized Medical Point in Gaza as part of our mission to deliver critical care despite the dire shortage of specialists and equipment.

We extend our gratitude to all donors, especially those from our branches in the UK, Turkey, Denmark, France, and Sweden.
